On the 25th September 2023, we opened the doors to the Oving Cow Shed for the first time.
After a long year of planning and managing the project to completion, we had no idea what to expect as it was all brand new to us, but were delighted to finally have the opportunity to supply our farm fresh, organic milk directly to our local community and beyond.
There were teething problems and challenges as we learned how to manage all of the new equipment and technology, but before long, it became part of what we do at Woodhorn.
Graham, who previously managed our dairy herd for over 20 years, has done a fabulous job of running the Cow Shed since it opened and has really enjoyed meeting both our regular customers and new visitors to the shed, and if you ever have any cow related questions, he’s your man!
One of the highlights of opening the Cow Shed has been the overwhelming support and positive feedback that we have had from our customers, both old and new. It brings us so much joy to see our milk being enjoyed within a few hours of our cows being milked in the morning, just a stone’s throw from the farm.
We have always been passionate about our local village, but the presence of the Cow Shed has given us a further opportunity to get involved with local community events such as the Christmas Fair at the Jubilee Hall and of course, the highly popular Scarecrow Day in May where we had so much fun taking part in the celebrations.
Since opening a year ago, we have welcomed over 7000 customers to the shed and sold almost 15,000 litres of milk, 18,000 litres of milkshake and over 2000 brownies!
We would also like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone who has visited the Cow Shed and supported us over the last year and we look forward to seeing you all again soon and welcoming new customers in the future.
