Organic Herd is an organic dairy co-operative fully owned and run by farmers across the UK who share a commitment to sustainable and organic farming. All profits end up back on farm and the smallest farms are treated exactly the same as the largest. At Woodhorn, we have been committed members for over 23 years and share a common belief – that how we farm matters, and that organic is the way to go.

We want to build a better dairy industry. We’re not just about making milk; we’re about sparking a ‘moo-vement’ (sorry!🙂) towards sustainable farming and ethical practices, with dairy farming and conservation going hand in hand. We envisage a future where dairy lovers can indulge without compromising their values. Dairy can be both irresistibly tasty and responsible when produced organically, in harmony with nature.

Our Organic Products

Organic Herd launched a range of products at the ‘Specialty and Fine Food’ trade fair in Olympia, London in 2023. We are rather proud and very excited to share some of them with you via our vending machines. Here’s a taster of what you can find:

Cheddar and velvety cheeses

Made using traditional cultures and matured in wooden boxes. The perfect addition to the cheeseboard or for use in home recipes, the cheddars are made in Somerset (of course!) and the velvety cheeses are crafted especially for us by artisan cheese makers in West Sussex

Hand churned salted and unsalted butter

Cream tumbled, hand salted and churned on original 1960s butter barrels with our signature open-texture recipe making them particularly creamy.

Chocolate

• Ethically sourced, sustainable Peruvian cacao
• Both the (Organic Herd) milk and cacao from biodiverse ecosystems
• Biodegradable and recyclable packaging
• No emulsifiers, artificial flavourings or colouring and no palm oil.
